Resources for Mental Health Awareness Month

Posted by:

May is Mental Health Awareness month, and CEBT wants to share available resources that provide education and support for clients and their families. Most of these are free of charge and would benefit from your sharing news of their work with others.

National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder (NEABPD) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) – and their families – through education, advocacy and support. NEABPD creates and shares educational materials; hosts conferences and workshops for public as well as professional audiences; offers peer-led support groups; and provides research and evidence-based resources for families and loved ones.

FEAST (Families Empowered and Supporting Treatment for Eating Disorders) provides support, education and advocacy for families and loved ones of individuals with eating disorders. Promoting the value of early intervention and working to improve access to effective treatments, FEAST provides a vast library of educational materials, including recorded webinars and access to support groups. The organization also spearheads advocacy efforts that broaden access to treatment, and is known for providing practical support to empower families.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental health conditions. Offering support groups, educational courses and advocacy initiatives, NAMI has an expansive network of community-based support and resources focused on mental health education, reducing stigma, supporting recovery, and promoting research and policy changes.

Project HEAL is a non-profit working to increase access to treatment for individuals with eating disorders by addressing financial limitations and a lack of available resources. By advocating to improve health care policies; providing funding and grants for evidence-based treatment; sponsoring workshops and seminars; sharing educational resources that increase awareness about eating disorders; and connecting clients and families with local community support, Project HEAL has helped thousands of individuals and their families access eating disorder treatment.

Emotions Matter is a non-profit created by a network of families and individuals united around their mission to improve social connection, awareness  and health care options for those with Borderline Personality Disorder. Led by the belief that individuals with a BPD diagnosis have the capacity to advocate for their recovery needs, Emotions Matter provides an extensive network of support, including peer-led online support groups; creating and distributing educational materials via videos, articles, and social media posts; and offering opportunities to connect with non-judgmental peers.

The Treatment and Research Advancements for Borderline Personality Disorder (TARA4BPD) is a  not-for-profit organization whose mission is to foster education and research in the field of personality disorders – specifically but not exclusively Borderline Personality Disorder. TARA supports research into the causes, psychobiology and treatment of personality disorders, and promotes education to reduce stigma and increase awareness of personality disorders.

While this list is in no way exhaustive, sharing resources and spreading awareness can begin with just one click. Please share this information widely!
