Overview.
Join us during your lunch hour for a virtual presentation on the Unified Protocol (UP) for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders, which is an empirically-supported treatment for a range of psychological conditions (e.g., generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, major depressive disorder).
The UP was designed to improve upon single-diagnosis protocols (e.g., CBT for panic) given that most individuals’ mental health symptoms span diagnostic categories and are maintained by a common mechanism (emotional avoidance). The treatment is emotion-focused, workbook-guided and modular, containing skills from the cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness/acceptance-based traditions.
Please note: this presentation will review the Unified Protocol for adult patients. A companion presentation on the Unified Protocol for adolescents will be offered later this year!
Learning Objectives
- Review the evidence base for the Unified Protocol
- Describe the core treatment modules of the Unified Protocol
- Identify practical applications of the United Protocol for a range of psychological concerns
