Overview.
Applying trauma-focused treatments with children and adolescents and their families can present unique clinical challenges.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment that engages both caregivers and children ages 3–18 to address emotional and behavioral difficulties related to trauma.
This training will provide an overview of the theoretical foundations and core principles of TF-CBT, with a focus on understanding the core components of treatment. Participants will learn how these components are structured and sequenced across treatment phases, and how they are applied in clinical sessions with children and caregivers.
This training is designed for mental health professionals and is appropriate for clinicians with introductory experience applying trauma-focused treatments with children and adolescents.
Learning Objectives
- Identify populations and clinical presentations for which TF-CBT is indicated
- Describe the core principles and theoretical foundations of TF-CBT
- Explain the role and application of the PRACTICE components within TF-CBT
